For the first time in the country Tamil Nadu Government has been giving a cash prize of Rs.one lakh check and certificate of appreciation to a girl child under the age of 18 every year since 2018 on National Girl Child Day 24th January to recognize and promote the potential of girl child.
Every year on February 24, the Tamil Nadu Girl Child Protection Day, the Tamil Nadu Government presents gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates to three District Collectors to recognize the districts that are performing well in increasing the sex ratio of the girl child.
